As per discussions we have had, including these about Special and Module, we need to correct our namespace names.

In each of the following cases, although the current namespace name is a Konkani word, it is not a commonly-used word, the translations in translatewiki.net all use the word that we are proposing to change to. This creates a disconnect in users' minds, because the messages all use one term, and the namespace names are a different word.

Progress

The namespace names have been changed, and I have updated all links that had the old names. The old namespace names have been added as aliases, which means that links to the old namespace names will still work.

The old namespace names are working for Help, Help_talk, Category, Category_talk, and User (I didn't check Media), but are not working for User_talk, as you can tell from the red "uloi" link in the copied signatures above. To be more explicit about this, notice that: वापरपी चर्चा:The Discoverer ≠ उपेगकर्तो चर्चा:The Discoverer. What is causing this problem?

OK, my link to "उपेगकर्तो चर्चा:The Discoverer" was automagically linked to the correct page when I saved my comment (I so hate "Flow"…), so just open a regular wiki page (your user page, for example [not user_talk, as that's another "flow" page]), create a wikilink to "उपेगकर्तो चर्चा:The Discoverer", and preview it. You'll see that it comes up as a redlink. See also all the redlinks in the 18 March 2016 edits made by "Flow talk page manager". These are being caused by the same problem.

The old user talk namespace name is supposed to be an alias to the new one. The reason it's not working is that there is a syntax error in the Mediawiki localisation file. There is a patch in gerrit for this. Once that has been merged, the alias will work. @Dcljr and others, it could be helpful if you could request for the patch to be reviewed and merged speedily.

I don't know how to request that or who to request it of, but I left a comment on the original Phabricator task, if that helps.

The patch has been merged and it seems that all the User Talk namespace-related probolems have been solved.
