Amim bicari foré,

We are real beggars,

Rozra boré, amcam tandu podtai toddé.

We pray/ beg well, but we get little rice.

Tandu amcam podtai boré,

We get a lot of rice,

Morgovam odleã garam-coddé.

At the big house in Margão.

Podlolé tandu soreac kailé,

The rice which we receive, we use for buying drinks,

Morgovam apcarê coddem.

At the liquor shop at Margão.

Atant dand'dó hankeant ôrli,

With a rod in the hand, and a basket at the elbow,

Bicareanco tiksanum choddi.

The rage of the beggar is violent (hot/ pungent).

Matear fottem paianc zotem,

Rag on the head, slippers on the legs,

Bicareanco jêuno meuta aitem.

The beggar gets food without working.
